Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel versions prior to 6.6.74
Description
A NULL pointer dereference issue was found in the Linux kernel, specifically in the
cleanup bearer() function. This issue occurred when the ub->ubsock->sk pointer was NULL, causing a general protection fault. The problem was resolved by caching the tipc net pointer. The issue was identified by syzbot and is related to a non-canonical address.Recommendations
To resolve this issue, update the Linux kernel to version 6.6.74 or later. As a temporary workaround, consider disabling the
cleanup bearer() function until a patch is available. However, this is not a recommended long-term solution, as it may have unintended consequences on system stability and performance.Exploit
