Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's netfs/fscache component has been resolved. The issue was caused by a missing memory barrier in
fscache create volume() between the bit-clearing operation and the wake-up operation. This could lead to a situation where, after a wake-up, the bit-clearing operation hasn't been detected yet, resulting in an indefinite wait. The problem occurs when two processes, cookie1 and cookie2, have the same volume and cookie1 enters the -no wait- process, clearing the bit and waking up the waiting process. If a barrier is missing, cookie2 may remain in the -wait- process indefinitely.Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
