Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions:
IMGspider plugin for WordPress versions up to, and including, 2.3.10
Description:
The IMGspider plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to arbitrary file uploads due to missing file type validation in the
upload img file function. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with contributor-level and above permissions, to upload arbitrary files on the affected site's server, which may make remote code execution possible.Recommendations:
For versions up to, and including, 2.3.10, update to a version higher than 2.3.10 to resolve the issue.
As a temporary workaround, consider disabling the
upload img file function until a patch is available.
Restrict access to the plugin's file upload functionality to minimize the risk of exploitation.Fix
