Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
The Gutenberg Blocks, Page Builder – ComboBlocks plugin for WordPress versions up to, and including, 2.2.85a
Description
The issue is related to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the
redirectURL parameter of the Date Countdown widget, due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user-supplied attributes. This allows authenticated attackers, with contributor-level access and above, to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page.Recommendations
For versions up to, and including, 2.2.85a, update to a patched version as soon as possible to resolve the issue.
As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the Date Countdown widget for users with contributor-level access and above until a patch is available.
Avoid using the
redirectURL parameter in the Date Countdown widget until the issue is resolved.Fix
