Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
MDx theme for WordPress versions up to, and including, 2.0.3
Description
The issue is related to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the plugin's 'mdx list item' shortcode due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user-supplied attributes. This allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level access and above to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page.
Recommendations
For MDx theme for WordPress versions up to, and including, 2.0.3, update the plugin immediately to a version that addresses the Stored Cross-Site Scripting issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the 'mdx list item' shortcode to minimize the risk of exploitation. Monitor for signs of compromise and take necessary actions to secure the system.
Fix
