Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
WP Last Modified Info plugin for WordPress versions up to, and including, 1.9.0
Description
The issue is related to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the
template attribute of the lmt-post-modified-info shortcode. This is due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping, making it possible for authenticated attackers with Contributor-level access and above to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages. These scripts will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page.Recommendations
For versions up to, and including, 1.9.0, update to a version that addresses the insufficient input sanitization and output escaping issue.
As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the
lmt-post-modified-info shortcode to minimize the risk of exploitation.
Avoid using the template attribute in the affected shortcode until the issue is resolved.Fix
