| Vector | AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
aThemes Starter Sites plugin for WordPress versions up to, and including, 1.0.53
Description
The issue is related to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via SVG File uploads due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping. This allows authenticated attackers with Author-level access and above to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses the SVG file.
Recommendations
For versions up to, and including, 1.0.53, update to a version higher than 1.0.53 to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting file uploads, especially SVG files, to prevent potential exploitation until a patch is available. Additionally, limiting access to Author-level and above users can help minimize the risk of exploitation.
Fix
