Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
TOTOLINK A3600R version 4.1.2cu.5182 B20201102
Description
A critical issue has been found in the setUpgradeFW function of the /cgi-bin/cstecgi.cgi file. The manipulation of the
FileName argument leads to buffer overflow. The attack may be initiated remotely. The exploit has been disclosed to the public and may be used. The vendor was contacted early about this disclosure but did not respond in any way.Recommendations
For version 4.1.2cu.5182 B20201102, as a temporary workaround, consider disabling the
setUpgradeFW function until a patch is available. Restrict access to the /cgi-bin/cstecgi.cgi file to minimize the risk of exploitation. Avoid using the FileName argument in the affected API endpoint until the issue is resolved. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this issue.Exploit
