CVE-2024-8628
CVSS v3.1
5.4
Medium
| Vector | AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions:
MailOptin plugin for WordPress versions up to, and including, 1.2.70.3
Description:
The issue is related to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the plugin's 'post-meta' shortcode due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user-supplied attributes. This allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level access and above to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page.
Recommendations:
For MailOptin plugin for WordPress versions up to, and including, 1.2.70.3, update to a version that addresses the insufficient input sanitization and output escaping issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the 'post-meta' shortcode to minimize the risk of exploitation.
Fix
