CVE-2024-8968
CVSS v3.1
4.7
Medium
| Vector | AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:N/A:N |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions:
MaxButtons WordPress plugin versions prior to 9.8.1
Description:
The issue is related to the MaxButtons WordPress plugin, which does not properly sanitize and escape some of its settings. This could allow high-privilege users, such as admins, to perform Stored Cross-Site Scripting attacks, even when the unfiltered html capability is disallowed, for example, in a multisite setup.
Recommendations:
For versions prior to 9.8.1, update to version 9.8.1 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting the use of the plugin's settings to minimize the risk of exploitation.
