CVE-2024-8985

CVSS v3.1

6.4

Medium

VectorAV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions: The Social Proof (Testimonial) Slider plugin for WordPress versions up to, and including, 2.2.4
Description: The issue arises from insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user-supplied attributes in the plugin's spslider-block shortcode. This allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level access and above to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages. These scripts will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page.
Recommendations: For versions up to, and including, 2.2.4, update to a version that addresses the insufficient input sanitization and output escaping issue in the spslider-block shortcode. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the spslider-block shortcode to prevent authenticated attackers from injecting arbitrary web scripts.
