Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Rescue Shortcodes plugin for WordPress versions up to, and including, 2.8
Description
The issue is related to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the plugin's
rescue tab shortcode due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user-supplied attributes. This allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level access and above to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page.Recommendations
For versions up to, and including, 2.8, consider disabling the
rescue tab shortcode until a patch is available to prevent exploitation. Restrict access to pages that use this shortcode to minimize the risk of script injection. Avoid using user-supplied attributes in the rescue tab shortcode until the issue is resolved.Fix
