CVE-2024-9942

CVSS v3.1

9.8

Critical

VectorAV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions WPGYM - Wordpress Gym Management System plugin for WordPress versions up to, and including, 67.1.0
Description The issue is related to arbitrary file uploads due to missing file type validation in the MJ gmgt user avatar image upload() function. This allows unauthenticated attackers to upload arbitrary files on the affected site's server, potentially making remote code execution possible. The vulnerability is actively exploited in the wild.
Recommendations For versions up to, and including, 67.1.0, consider disabling the MJ gmgt user avatar image upload() function until a patch is available to prevent arbitrary file uploads. Restrict access to the vulnerable function to minimize the risk of exploitation. Avoid using the affected plugin until the issue is resolved. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
