CVSS v3.1
9.8
Critical
| Vector | AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
ProfilePress Pro plugin for WordPress versions up to, and including, 4.11.1
Description
The issue is due to insufficient verification on the user being returned by the social login token, allowing unauthenticated attackers to log in as any existing user on the site, such as an administrator, if they have access to the email and the user does not have an already-existing account for the service returning the token.
Recommendations
For versions up to, and including, 4.11.1, update to a version later than 4.11.1 to resolve the issue.
As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to social login features until a patch is available.
Avoid using the social login token for authentication until the issue is resolved.
Fix
Incorrect Default Permissions
Improper Authentication
