CVE-2024-1698

CVSS v2.0

10

Critical

VectorAV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:C/I:C/A:C
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions: NotificationX plugin for WordPress versions up to, and including, 2.8.2
Description: The issue is related to SQL Injection via the type parameter due to insufficient escaping on the user-supplied parameter and lack of sufficient preparation on the existing SQL query. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to append additional SQL queries into already existing queries that can be used to extract sensitive information from the database. The flaw could enable unauthenticated attackers to inject malicious code and gain complete control of affected websites. Over 30,000 installations are potentially affected.
Recommendations: For versions up to, and including, 2.8.2, consider disabling the type parameter in the affected API endpoint until a patch is available. Restrict access to sensitive database information to minimize the risk of exploitation. As a temporary workaround, avoid using the type parameter in the affected plugin functionality until the issue is resolved. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
