CVE-2024-36965

CVSS v3.1

5.5

Medium

VectorAV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description The issue is related to the remoteproc module in the Linux kernel, specifically with the mediatek component. The problem arises when the IPI buffer location is read from the firmware loaded to the System Companion Processor, and it is not guaranteed that the SRAM (L2TCM) size defined in the devicetree node is large enough. This can cause the driver to perform read/write operations outside the L2TCM boundary, resulting in a kernel panic. The issue is especially relevant for multi-core SCP but is also useful to check on single-core variants.
Recommendations At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
