CVE-2024-39477

CVSS v3.1

5.5

Medium

VectorAV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description The issue is related to the mm/hugetlb module in the Linux kernel, where the function vma needs reservation() can return -ENOMEM if allocate file region entries() fails to allocate the file region struct for the reservation. This can cause a problem when calling vma add reservation() and lead to a denial of service. The unmap hugepage range() function is also affected. If vma needs reservation() returns -ENOMEM, the hugetlb restore reserve flag is cleared to prevent free huge folio() from incrementing the resv count.
Recommendations At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
