Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Junos OS versions 21.2R3-S5 through 21.2R3-S5
Description
An Improper Check for Unusual or Exceptional Conditions issue in the Packet Forwarding Engine (pfe) of Juniper Networks Junos OS allows an unauthenticated, network-based attacker to cause a Denial-of-Service (DoS). When an affected device receives specific valid TCP traffic, the pfe crashes and restarts, leading to a momentary but complete service outage.
Recommendations
Update to Junos OS 21.2R3-S6 to avoid service outages. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the Packet Forwarding Engine until a patch is applied.
Fix
DoS
