CVE-2022-48882

CVSS v3.1

5.5

Medium

VectorAV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description The issue is related to a null dereference in the net/mlx5e component of the Linux kernel when updating the MAC security entity (SecY). This occurs in the hw offload path when the macsec security association (SA) initialization routine is called, and the extended packet number (epn) is enabled. The salt and ssci attributes are retrieved using the MACsec driver rx sa context, which is unavailable when updating a SecY property such as encoding-sa, resulting in a null dereference. The fix involves using the provided SA to set these attributes.
Recommendations At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
