| Vector | AV:N/AC:H/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:N |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
HDF5 Library versions prior to 1.14.4
Description
The issue is related to a heap-based buffer overflow in the
H5T ref mem setnull function in the H5Tref.c file of the HDF5 Library, which can lead to the corruption of the instruction pointer. This can potentially allow a remote attacker to impact the confidentiality and integrity of protected information or cause a denial of service.Recommendations
For HDF5 Library versions prior to 1.14.4, consider updating to a version that contains a fix for this issue.
As a temporary workaround, consider restricting the use of the
H5T ref mem setnull function in the H5Tref.c file until a patch is available.Fix
