CVE-2024-32622
CVSS v2.0
9.4
Critical
| Vector | AV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:C/I:N/A:C |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
HDF5 Library versions 1.14.3 and earlier
Description
The issue is related to an out-of-bounds read operation in the
H5FL arr malloc function in the H5FL.c file of the HDF5 Library, which is called from H5S set extent simple in H5S.c. This can potentially allow a remote attacker to impact the confidentiality and availability of protected information due to a heap buffer overflow.Recommendations
For versions 1.14.3 and earlier, consider disabling the
H5FL arr malloc function as a temporary workaround until a patch is available. Restrict access to the affected H5S set extent simple function in H5S.c to minimize the risk of exploitation. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.Out of bounds Read
