Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Adobe Media Encoder versions 24.5, 23.6.8 and earlier
Description
The issue is related to an out-of-bounds read vulnerability in Adobe Media Encoder. This vulnerability could allow an attacker to execute code in the context of the current user by leveraging the vulnerability to read past the end of an allocated memory structure when parsing a crafted file. Exploitation of this issue requires user interaction, where a victim must open a malicious file. The vulnerability could also lead to disclosure of sensitive memory and potentially allow an attacker to bypass mitigations such as ASLR.
Recommendations
For Adobe Media Encoder versions 24.5, 23.6.8 and earlier, update to a version that fixes the out-of-bounds read vulnerability to prevent code execution in the context of the current user.
As a temporary workaround, consider avoiding the use of crafted files that could trigger the out-of-bounds read vulnerability until a patch is available.
Restrict access to potentially malicious files to minimize the risk of exploitation.
