Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description
The issue is related to the
dasd ese needs format function in the Linux kernel, which checks for error codes signaling the non-existence of a proper track format. The check for incorrect length is imprecise, leading to potential data corruption in certain error cases, such as during a storage server warmstart. The fix involves removing the check for incorrect length and replacing it with an explicit check for invalid track format in transport mode. Additionally, the check for file protected is removed as it is not a valid ESE handling case.Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
