Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description
The issue is related to an underflow seen when writing limit attributes in the hwmon driver, specifically in the adc128d818 module. This underflow occurs when a large negative number, such as -9223372036854775808, is provided by the user after the kstrtol() function and before the DIV ROUND CLOSEST() operation. The fix involves reordering the clamp val() and DIV ROUND CLOSEST() operations to prevent this underflow. The vulnerability may allow an attacker to impact the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of protected information.
Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
