Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description
The issue is related to an underflow in the Linux kernel when writing limit attributes, specifically with the
hwmon module and the w83627ehf driver. The underflow occurs when the DIV ROUND CLOSEST() function is used after kstrtol() with a large negative number, such as -9223372036854775808, provided by the user. This can be fixed by reordering the clamp val() and DIV ROUND CLOSEST() operations. The vulnerability may allow an attacker to impact the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of protected information.Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
