CVE-2024-26763

CVSS v3.1

7.1

High

VectorAV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:H/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions: Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description: The issue is related to the dm-crypt component of the Linux kernel, specifically with errors in resource management during authentication. This could potentially allow an attacker to cause a denial of service. The problem arises when authenticated encryption produces an invalid tag due to modified data being encrypted. To fix this, the data is copied into a clone bio first and then encrypted inside the clone bio, which may reduce performance but prevents device corruption when using O DIRECT and modifying data simultaneously.
Recommendations: At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
