CVSS v3.1

7.8

High

VectorAV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description The issue is related to a use-after-free vulnerability in the block and bfq components of the Linux kernel. After a specific commit, if the current process is the last holder of bfqq, it can be freed, leading to potential unauthorized access and exploitation. The vulnerability may allow an attacker to impact the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of protected information. The problem is fixed by adding a helper function bfq waker bfqq() to check if bfqq->waker bfqq is in the merge chain and the current process is the only holder.
Recommendations At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
