CVE-2023-52631

CVSS v3.1

5.5

Medium

VectorAV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description The issue is related to a NULL dereference bug in the fs/ntfs3 component of the Linux kernel. This bug occurs when the ntfs load attr list() function is called, and the "size" comes from le32 to cpu(attr->res.data size). On 32-bit systems, the "+ 1023" can overflow, resulting in a zero value, which causes the kmalloc to succeed and return the ZERO SIZE PTR. Then, the memcpy() function crashes with an Oops on the next line. The vulnerability can be exploited to cause a denial of service.
Recommendations At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
