CVE-2024-26820

CVSS v3.1

5.5

Medium

VectorAV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description The issue is related to the hv netvsc component of the Linux kernel and is caused by errors in resource management. When the hv netvsc driver is unloaded and reloaded, the NET DEVICE REGISTER handler cannot successfully register the VF because the register call is received before netvsc probe is finished. This is due to the early registration of register netdevice notifier, even before vmbus driver register. To fix this, each matching VF is registered at the end of netvsc probe if it is visible as a netdevice.
Recommendations At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
