CVE-2024-27001

CVSS v3.1

5.5

Medium

VectorAV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description The issue is related to incomplete endpoint checking in the vmk80xx component of the Linux kernel. Depending on the hardware model, URBs can have either bulk or interrupt type, and the current version of the vmk80xx find usb endpoints() function does not fully take this into account. This can cause systems with 'panic on warn' set to crash. The issue was found by Syzkaller and has been resolved by simplifying the endpoint checking process with usb find common endpoints() and ensuring that only expected endpoint types are present.
Recommendations At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
