Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description
The issue is related to a kernel panic that occurs when renaming an interface, specifically due to a problem in the
leds: trigger: netdev component. The logic change in the implementation, where the dev from the trigger event was used to check the carrier, but now the dev in trigger data is used, causes the issue. This results in an invalid net dev being used when calling get device state(), leading to a kernel panic. The estimated number of potentially affected devices worldwide is not available. There is no information about real-world incidents where this issue was exploited.Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
