Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions:
Linux kernel versions prior to 6.6.58
Description:
The issue is related to a use-after-free vulnerability in the jfs file system, specifically in the dbFreeBits function. This vulnerability can be exploited to impact the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of protected information. The vulnerability occurs due to a race condition when accessing the bmap, which can be avoided by using the lock s umount to synchronize the dbUnmount and jfs ioc trim paths.
Recommendations:
Update to Linux kernel version 6.6.58 or later to resolve the issue.
As a temporary workaround, consider using the lock s umount to synchronize the dbUnmount and jfs ioc trim paths to avoid the use-after-free vulnerability.
