CVE-2024-27414

CVSS v3.1

5.5

Medium

VectorAV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description The issue is related to the rtnetlink component of the Linux kernel, specifically with the function rtnl bridge setlink(). An adjustment made to the old loop logic in this function to check the length of the IFLA BRIDGE MODE attribute removed a break statement, leading to an error in the logic of writing back flags. This could cause the attr pointer to point to an invalid NLA, potentially resulting in overflow writes. The patch introduces a new variable br flag to save the NLA pointer that points to IFLA BRIDGE FLAGS, resolving the error logic. The vulnerability may allow an attacker to cause a denial of service.
Recommendations At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
