CVSS v3.1

5.5

Medium

VectorAV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description The issue is related to a potential null pointer dereference in the Linux kernel's micrel component. This can occur when the ptp parse header() function returns NULL as ptp header due to an abnormal packet type or corrupted packet in the lan8814 get sig rx() and lan8814 get sig tx() functions. The problem is fixed by adding a ptp header check. The vulnerability may allow an attacker to cause a denial of service.
Recommendations At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
