Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description
The issue is related to a memory leak in the netfilter component of the Linux kernel, specifically in the ebtables module when handling a malformed blob. The initial bug fix was incomplete, replacing a crash with a memory leak. The old code had an assignment to
ret embedded in a conditional, which needs to be restored. This could potentially allow an attacker to cause a denial of service.Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
