CVE-2024-35880

CVSS v3.1

5.5

Medium

VectorAV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description The issue is related to the io uring/kbuf component of the Linux kernel, where a race condition can occur due to incorrect locking of resources. This can lead to a local privilege escalation. The vulnerability is resolved by holding a reference to the io buffer list over mmap, ensuring it does not get unregistered until the operation is complete. The lookup of the kbuf is done under RCU, and a reference to the io buffer list is grabbed to prevent it from being unregistered.
Recommendations At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
