Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel versions prior to 6.2
Description
The issue is related to a NULL-pointer dereference in the Linux kernel's qca component, specifically in the
wakeup() function when called for a non-serdev controller during suspend. Qualcomm ROME controllers can be registered from the Bluetooth line discipline, and in this case, the HCI UART serdev pointer is NULL. The vulnerability can be exploited to cause a denial of service.Recommendations
To resolve the issue, update the Linux kernel to version 6.2 or later. For versions prior to 6.2, consider applying the patch that adds a sanity check to prevent the NULL-pointer dereference. As a temporary workaround, restrict the use of Qualcomm ROME controllers with the Bluetooth line discipline to minimize the risk of exploitation.
