CVE-2024-51016

CVSS v3.1

5.7

Medium

VectorAV:A/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Netgear XR300 version 1.0.3.78
Description The issue is related to a stack overflow in the addName%d parameter of the usb approve.cgi script, which can be exploited by sending a specially crafted POST request. This can allow a remote attacker to cause a Denial of Service (DoS). The addName%d parameter is vulnerable to a buffer overflow on the stack when processed.
Recommendations For Netgear XR300 version 1.0.3.78, as a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the usb approve.cgi script until a patch is available. Avoid using the addName%d parameter in the affected API endpoint until the issue is resolved. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
