Description
The issue is related to a stack overflow in the
pptp user netmask parameter at the "pptp.cgi" endpoint. This allows attackers to cause a Denial of Service (DoS) via a crafted POST request. The vulnerability can be exploited by sending a specially crafted POST request, enabling remote attackers to disrupt service.Recommendations
For Netgear R7000P version 1.3.3.154, consider disabling the
pptp.cgi endpoint or restricting access to it until a patch is available to prevent exploitation of the pptp user netmask parameter. Avoid using the pptp user netmask parameter in the affected endpoint until the issue is resolved. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.Buffer Overflow
