CVE-2024-50261

CVSS v3.1

7.8

High

VectorAV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions: Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description: The issue is related to a use-after-free vulnerability in the macsec function of the Linux kernel. This vulnerability can be exploited to impact the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of protected information. The vulnerability occurs when the metadata dst, used to store the SCI value for macsec offload, is freed by metadata dst free() in macsec free netdev(), but the driver still uses it for sending packets. To fix this issue, dst release() is used instead to release metadata dst, preventing it from being freed instantly if still referenced by skb.
Recommendations: At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
