CVE-2024-36020
CVSS v3.1
5.5
Medium
| Vector | AV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions:
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description:
The issue is related to the i40e component of the Linux kernel, where a variable
vf may be used uninitialized, potentially causing servers to hang in rare conditions with reset races. The root cause is the use of two sources for information, leading to interchangeable use of variables v and vf, which could result in a stale vf pointing to a different or unintended vf. The fix involves removing the redundant v variable and iterating via a single VF pointer to guarantee its validity.Recommendations:
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
