CVE-2024-36890

CVSS v3.1

5.5

Medium

VectorAV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions: Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description: The issue is related to the Linux kernel's mm/slab component, where an automatically freed allocation that is an error pointer can lead to a crash. This is demonstrated in the wm831x gpio dbg show() function, where the gpiochip dup line label(chip, i) call can return an error pointer. The auto clean up function should check for error pointers to prevent such crashes. Exploitation of this issue may allow an attacker to cause a denial of service.
Recommendations: At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
