Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions:
D-Link DIR 823G version 1.0.2B05
Description:
The issue is related to a command injection vulnerability via the
HostName parameter in the SetWanSettings function. This allows attackers to execute arbitrary OS commands via a crafted request. The vulnerability is due to the lack of neutralization of special elements used in the operating system command when processing the HostName parameter. Exploitation of the vulnerability may allow a remote attacker to execute arbitrary commands.Recommendations:
For D-Link DIR 823G version 1.0.2B05, as a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the
SetWanSettings function until a patch is available. Avoid using the HostName parameter in the affected function to minimize the risk of exploitation. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.OS Command Injection
