CVE-2024-36950
CVSS v2.0
4.6
Medium
| Vector | AV:L/AC:L/Au:S/C:N/I:N/A:C |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions:
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description:
The issue is related to the FireWire OHCI interrupt handler in the Linux kernel. When a bus reset interrupt occurs, the handler masks bus reset interrupts until the interrupt has been serviced and cleared. However, if the
OHCI PARAM DEBUG BUSRESETS parameter is set, bus reset interrupts are unmasked to allow logging. The irq handler function logs the bus reset interrupt but cannot clear the event flag because the event will be serviced later. If the interrupt is still unmasked when irq handler exits, the system may freeze due to repeated calls to irq handler. This freeze can be reproduced by loading the firewire ohci module with debugging output enabled. The issue was first reported after a specific commit in 2008 but was not fixed until recently.Recommendations:
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
