Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions:
Fuji Electric Tellus Lite V-Simulator 5 version V8
Description:
The issue is a remote code execution vulnerability that allows attackers to execute arbitrary code on affected installations of Fuji Electric Tellus Lite. This is due to a lack of proper validation of user-supplied data when parsing V8 files in the V-Simulator 5 component, resulting in a write past the end of an allocated data structure. User interaction is required to exploit this vulnerability, as the target must visit a malicious page or open a malicious file. An attacker can leverage this vulnerability to execute code in the context of the current process.
Recommendations:
As a temporary workaround, consider disabling the V8 file parsing functionality in the V-Simulator 5 component until a patch is available. Restrict access to the V-Simulator 5 component to minimize the risk of exploitation. Avoid opening malicious files or visiting malicious pages with the V-Simulator 5 component until the issue is resolved. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
