Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions:
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description:
The issue is related to a memory leak in the
event deliver() function of the Linux kernel's vmci component. This leak could allow an attacker to cause a denial of service. The problem arises because event msg is controlled by user-space, and event msg->event data.event is passed to event deliver() and used as an index without sanitization. This change ensures that the event index is sanitized to mitigate any possibility of speculative information leaks. The bug was discovered and resolved using Coverity Static Analysis Security Testing (SAST) by Synopsys, Inc.Recommendations:
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
