Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions:
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description:
The issue is related to the bpf component of the Linux kernel and involves errors in reading beyond the boundaries of a memory buffer. This can potentially allow an attacker to cause a denial of service. The problem arises after a specific commit when non-VM ALLOC mappings are marked as accessible, leading to out-of-bound access complaints by KASAN. The solution involves using VM MAP instead of VM ALLOC for the ringbuf area, as it is created by mapping allocated pages.
Recommendations:
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
