CVE-2024-47777

CVSS v3.1

9.1

Critical

VectorAV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions GStreamer versions prior to 1.24.10
Description A vulnerability has been identified in the gst wavparse smpl chunk function within gstwavparse.c. This function attempts to read 4 bytes from the data + 12 offset without checking if the size of the data buffer is sufficient. If the buffer is too small, the function reads beyond its bounds, resulting in an out-of-bounds read. This issue may allow a remote attacker to cause a denial of service.
Recommendations For versions prior to 1.24.10, update to version 1.24.10 to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting the use of the gst wavparse smpl chunk function until a patch is available.
