5.5
Medium
| Vector | AV:N/AC:L/Au:S/C:P/I:P/A:N |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Adobe Experience Manager versions 6.5.21 and earlier
Description
The issue is related to insufficient protection of the web page structure when handling DOM elements, which could allow a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code. This is a DOM-based Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability that can be exploited by manipulating a DOM element through a crafted URL or user input, allowing the attacker to inject malicious scripts that run when the page is rendered. This type of attack requires user interaction, as the victim would need to visit a malicious link or input data into a compromised form.
Recommendations
For Adobe Experience Manager versions 6.5.21 and earlier, consider disabling the DOM element manipulation functionality until a patch is available. Restrict access to potentially vulnerable web pages to minimize the risk of exploitation. Avoid using user input to manipulate DOM elements in affected versions until the issue is resolved. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
