CVE-2024-38572

CVSS v3.1

7.1

High

VectorAV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions: Linux kernel versions prior to 6.6.37
Description: The issue is related to an out-of-bounds access in the qmi invoke handler() function. This occurs because there is no terminator entry for ath12k qmi msg handlers, leading to a KASAN warning. The vulnerability may allow an attacker to cause a denial of service. The qmi invoke handler() function is used to handle QMI messages, and the lack of a terminator entry can cause it to access memory outside the bounds of the ath12k qmi msg handlers array.
Recommendations: To resolve the issue, update the Linux kernel to version 6.6.37 or later. As a temporary workaround, consider disabling the qmi invoke handler() function until a patch is available. However, this may have unintended consequences and should be carefully evaluated before implementation. At the moment, there is no information about other versions that contain a fix for this vulnerability.
